Welcome to The Thrive VI Form
“Working Together to Succeed”
The Thrive Partnership is an exciting venture between the Colne VIth Form College, Philip Morant V1th Form College and Essex University, offering a diverse range of Level 2 and 3 qualifications including GCSE, A level and Vocational qualifications.
The Colne V1th Form College specifically offers two subject specialist pathways: Sport and Health and Social Care. Early specialisation means that students who study with us are able to prepare for a career in this field, whilst optimising on their academic potential by studying a subject they are passionate about.
Students are provided with high quality facilities and many of the subject teachers have professional, industry experience. Our monitoring and assessment systems ensure that every student who joins us is given as many opportunities as possible to become a lifelong learner, ready for the demands of their future.
The Colne VIth Form is a member of the VI6 Project, allowing our students to study for A Levels at the Wivenhoe campus of Essex University. This project supports students in building tenacity whilst immersing them in a Higher Education setting. Our partnership with the Phillip Morant College also allows a wider range of courses to be offered to our students. Transport to lessons off site is provided.
Alongside the Double or Triple Awards in Sport and Health & Social Care we also offer a range of A Level subjects through the VI6 project, Level 2 courses in English and Maths and a Level 3 Applied Science qualification. Our curriculum offer is designed to cater for our school cohort and the local skills shortages in North East Essex.
Each student at the Colne VIth Form works with their academic tutor building a personalised timetable. This is to ensure they are developing the soft skills necessary for their future success. All students undertake work experience, the Employability for Life qualification and are encouraged to gain the extracurricular experience valued by universities and employers.
I hope you find this information useful and should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the College.
